NE when she was eight and lived there until 1976. then in the Coonce Home in Superior, NE, run Coonce. On Dec. 30, was placed in the Superior Center and then the Nelson Good Samaritan 18, 1990. Williams passed away on Nov. at the Nelson Good Samari- age of 88 years and 8 heldThurs- 19, 1992 at 2 with from Cemetery, Burr Oak. twice during school and was allowed to skip third and sixth grades. He loved sports and was involved with basket- ball, track, and football at Concordia High School. He had his nose broken nine times, collar bones and ankles broken, and a few other injuries, but he managed to conquer all of them. It was in Concordia, Kansas that I-libbs and Mable Hazel Hanson met and were eventually married in Nor- way, KS, on May 14, 1928. To this union two children were born, Gerald and Ross. Gordon didn't retire, he stated that he Just quit at the age of 46 and leased out, sold out, and rented out, the home, business, and farm in Kansas and moved to Long Beach, CA in the fall of 1954. Gordon and Mable were members of the Immanuel Lutheran Church. On May 14, 1978 they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Gordon suffered congestive heart fail- ure in April 1992 and was confined to the family home until entering the hospital on Oct. 17, 1992. Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 9, 1992 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Long Beach, CA. Interment was at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Cypress, CA. Directed by Forest Lawn Mortuary. Tributes may be sent to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Gordon A. I-Iibbs Memorial Fund. Margaret Lorence Margaret Lorence, 81, of Rogers, AR died Saturday, Oct. 17 at St. Mary's Hospital. She was born Nov. 20, 1910, in Burr Oak, KS, to Frank andAlice Hill Terrlll. She was a homemaker and had lived in the Esbon area until 1940 when she and her family moved to Missouri. She was living in Rogers, AR at the time of her death. She was preceded in death by a brother, James Terrfll and her parents. Survivors are her husband, Ray Lorence of the home; two sons, Rex Lorence of Bentonville and Richard Lorence of Hollywo(xi, CA; a sister, Esther Michael of Salem, OR; three grandchildren; and three great-grand- children. Funeral services were Tuesday, Oct. 20 at the Oakely Chapel Methodist Church. Rogers with burial following in Ruddick Cemetery, Carfleld. Monday, Nov. 11 at 2:15 a.m. a fire alarm was called 719 Delaware in Jewell, KS. An investigation by e Jewell County Sheriff's office and the Kansas Fire office determined this fire to be arson. with information leading to the arrest and of persons causing this fire should call for a reward of up to $5,000. Helen Lois McCammon, daughter of Charles and Margaret (Livers) McCam- mon was born August 26. 1920. near Mankato, Kansas, and passed away November 20, 1992, at thedewell County Hospital at the age of 82 years, 2 months, and 20 days. She attended country school in Limestone Township and'graduated from Mankato HAgh School in 1928. Helen was a member of the Harmony United Methodist Church, LibertyClub, and various other clubs. She assisted her father and mother on the farm until her mother's death in 1936. Following her mother's death, she kept house for her father until his death in 1949, when she moved te M~. She was clerk-ln the Register of Deeds office of Jewell County for 23 years and continued to live in Mankato after her retirement. She was preceded in death by her McCammon parents, and brothers, Marvin and Ben. She is survived by her sister, Frances Walker, Mankato; brother, Raymond and wife, Tecumseh; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Ben McCammon Of T~ and Mrs. Marvin McCammon, Mankato; and other relatives. Funeral services were held Sunday. Nov. 22. at the Kramer Funeral Home Chapel. Mankato. KS. with Pastor Ken- dal Utt officiating. Music was provided by Shirley Wood, pianist, and Newell Alexander and Merlin Alexander, duet. Casket bearers were Donald Siemon, Milford Ost, Ray Smith, Newell Alexan- der, Harold McCammon and Jerry Mc- Cammon. Intermentwas in Mount Hope - Cemetery, Mankato, KS. Nielsen, one of three chil- dren of Peter E. Nielsen and Gerda {Block) Nielsen was born February 5, 1935 on a farm northwest of Superior, NE. He grew up on the farm, was educated at the rural school nearAbdal and graduated from Superior High School with the Class of 1953. On February 18, 1961 he was mar- ried to llene Wullenwaber at the Bethel Lutheran Church near Abdal. All of Pete's life was spent near and in Supe- rior where he was engaged in farming and livestock. The last few years Pete's cattle occupied his time. A loving father, he loved his sons, his grandchildren and all children in the neighborhood were always wel- come in his home. He was a member of the Superior Eagles and Elks Lodge and a member of the Salem Lutheran Church, Superior. He was preceded in death by an infant son Jeffery Kay Nielsen and his father. He is survived by his wife llene of Superior, sons, Fred and his wife Sue of Burlington, IA; Jay and wife Pam of Superior, his mother Gerda Nielsen of the Good Samaritan Center in Supe- rior, two sisters; Phyllis Thayer and her husband Max of Republic; Marilyn Morehead and her husband Garold of Ord, NE; sixgranddaughters; Heather, Kelly, Stephanie, Melissa, Samantha and Jacquelyn Nielsen. Pete passed away at the Brodstone Memorial Nuckolls County Hospital on Nov. 17, 1992 at the age of57years, 9 months and 12 days. Funeral services were held Thurs- day, Nov. 19, 1992, 11 a.m. from Salem Lutheran Church rural Superior, NE with Pastor Michael Osberg officiating. Music was provided by soloist Carol Shambaugh with Carlita Price as or- ganist. Casketbearers were; Tom Sorensen, Vic Pedersen, Jerry Harris, Richard Kottmeyer, Wyile Jensen, Larry Juergens, Jon Bruning and Gary Tordrup.
