Administered hy Kan- sas Legal Services, Inc. with technical support from the Kansas Department of Human Resources, WORKs pro- vides services to self-employed farm- ers and ranchers and their dependents that need to make a transition to non- farm employment. WORKs helps par- ticipants assess their skills and rind jobs. WORKs can provide financial incentives to employers to hire work- ers for on-the-job training, help pay for tuition and books if education or train- ing is needed, and pay mileage and child care costs while participants at- tend school or training. Switzer, 86, ~ ~e~.~c~ Formoso resident died Oct. 21 at the Sunset Manor Nursing Center, Frontenac, Karl. The daughterofWilliam andLillian (Logan) Robinson, she was born at Formoso Sept. 17, 1917. She lived there most of her live before moving to Frontenac last July from the Mt. Jo- seph Senior Village, Concordia. On Oct. 30, 1950, she married Dale H. Switzer St. He died in April, 1977. She worked a clerk at the Formoso Post Office and was assistant cashier of First National Bank, Formoso. A former member of the Formoso Com- munity Church, she was active in the community's Pride and Tree City Pro- g-"~s. She was named Kansas For- ester of the Year for 1999. Survivors include two sons, Dale Switzer, Pittsburg, and Ronald Gordanier, Formoso; two sisters, Vera Reed, Formoso, and Lillian Dieckman, Alton; and four grandchildren, She was preceded in death by her husband; par- ents; one son, Charles Gordanier; two brothers, William and Charles Logan; and two sisters, Irene Park and Ruth Logan. A memorial service and burial will be scheduled for a laterdatein Formoso. Arrangements are being made by the Bath -Naylor Funeral Home, Pittsburg, Kan. Celebrity hunt set for November The "David Se Youth, and Celebrity uled Nov. 22 and 23, sponsored by the Waconda Lake Association and the Kansas Department of Wildlife Parks. This event includes a tra[ banquet and hunts for se- lected youth and women. Several ! fessional have accepted the invitation to late as role models and mentors to novice hunters.
