Rose Friesner was taken to the hos- pital last Tuesday. Roger Lamb, Pampa, Texas, has been around Esbon this week. He was clearing trees from his pasture south of town. He headed back to Texas Friday. Hours of operation at the Village Cafe will change The WiUitts have decided not to renew their lose so volunteers will take over until some- thing permanent is arranged. A group of women met last Wednes- day night to discuss who could and would be available to help out at the cafe. Those present were Delilah Pate, Laura Benoit, Lila Frost, Joan Lamb, Tanya Underwood, Barb Mizner and Daphne Manning. School is starting and we all are so interested in how our children, grand- children, and great-grandchildren are involved. But no one really cares what yours are doing only about theirs and me about mine. Do hope all those matter who they were. It's so impor- tant to be kind. The pastor spoke to the congrega- tion which included guests Kathy and Kirk Holliday, Trudi Lewis and her daughter, Rachel Keranen. He ;read scripture from Jeremiah 1:4-10. "Are You Set Free" was the title of his sermon. God made us but Jesus is our keeper. He said "Go where I tell you to go." Only God can save you. Joys mentioned were of having fam- ily members visiting that day. Also of the improvement of Coke Wright, Ionia. Coke for many years was the Esbon area road supervisor as he worked for the Jewell County High- way Dept. Fellowship time followed the service. The Shipleys, Gary, Teresa and lone, had a busy day Saturday. They first picked several dozen sweet d, orn ears and prepared the corn for the freezer. But that's not all as, Gary then picked a pickup load of ears and they drove around and gave them to many friends in the area. I know because I was one of the lucky recipients.
