The funeral was at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Jewell June 22 with the Rev. Roberta Faulkner officiat- Ing. Music was provided by Mrs. David Kadel. Grandsons served as pallbearers. They are: Carl Knarr, Rex Flinn, Mgx Flinn, Michael Knarr, Daryl Clingman, Vaughn Clingman, Steven Johnson, and Alan Johnson. Burial was in Wallace Cemetery east of Jewell. The family suggested that memori- als be to the Trinity United Methodist Church in Jewell or to the Heartland Hospice. Arrangements were with the Klep- pinger Funeral Home in Jewell. Overton "Smitty" Smith Overton "Smltty" Smith, age 95, of Webber, Kansas, died Sunday, June 14, 1992, in the Good Samaritan Home in Superior, Nebraska. He was born May 3, 1987 in Glad- den, Missouri to Charles H. Smith and Sarah (tough) Smith. He moved to Webber, KS in 1955. He was a retired Section Foreman for the Santa Fe Railroad. He Is survived by a daughter, Shirley Jean Proffer of Kansas City. KS and a sister Tennle Kelly of Bolivar, MO. Graveside services were held June 16. 1992 from the Webber Cemetery near Webber, with Rev. Billy' Manning, pastor of the United Methodist Church of Webber officiating. Pallbearers were: Bob Davidson, Chuck Diamond, Wilton Thomas, Russell Thomas, Ivan VanMeter and Clarence Dove. Gilbert K. McElroy Gilbert IL McElroy, 66/died at his residence northeast of Randall, Mon- day, June 22, 1992. He was born December 15, 1925, east of Randall, a son of Clifford and Emma Henrick McElroy. He attended Vicksburg School east of Randall "and Randall High School. He was married to lla M. Abram on Sept. 14, 1947 at the Vlcksburg Baptist Church near Randall. He farmed in the Randall community all of his life. He was a member of the United Methodist Church. I.O.O.F. Lodge, and the Lions Club. Survivors include his wife lla, one daughter, Norma and husband Dennis Corm, and one son, Wayne McElroy and wlfe Marti, all of Randall; two broth- ers, Duane McElroy and_ Dennis McElroy, both of Salina; five grandch~I- ~ ,imamBt,.~ dren, Julie, Jennifer and dackle Corm, Jamle and Kerl McElroy, all of Randall; and his mother-in-law. Zatha Abram, Randall, He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Gerald. Funeral services will be held Thurs- day at 10:00 a.m. at the Community Church. Randall with Rev. Roberta Faulkner officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:00 Wednesday morning at the Blachly-Buoy Funeral Home in Jamestown. Burial will be in the Ran- dall Cemetery. Simpson Emory George Simpson, Paonia, Colorado, died June 4. 1992 in Delta County Memorial Hospital. He was 85. He was born June 17, 1906, to Nile D. and Minerva HeIlyer Simpson in Portland, IN. He spent his childhood in Norton, KS and around the Salem, Northbranch, and Burr Oak area. His family left Salem in his teens. Simpson was a rancher and a coal miner. He also served in the Colorado National Guard shortly after World War I. He was a Paonia resident for 47 years. He married Jessie L. Walkup Sept. 8, 1926. She died in Delta Jan. 8, 1989. Preceding him in death were a son, George Simpson; a great-granddaugh- ter. Jennifer Spangler: and a great- great granddaughter, Tiffany Rogers. Survivors Include two sons, Sid Simpson and Carl Simpson, both of Paonia; three daughters, Louise Span- gler of Grand Junction, Caroline Allen of Rangely, and lorraine Faling of Al- buquerque, N.M.; a brother, Ross Simpson of Vale, OR; a sister, llene Ross of Weiser, ID; 25 grandchildren; 31 great=grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
